MJ News: Jackson’s Doctor Pleads Not Guilty

Dr. Conrad Murray arrives for his arraignment of at the Airport Los Angeles Courthouse today

from MTV News

Hours after Dr. Conrad Murray was charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection with Michael Jackson's 2009 death, the embattled physician pleaded not guilty Monday afternoon (February 8) during an arraignment hearing at a Los Angeles courthouse, according to The Associated Press.

Murray's bail was set at $75,000, three times greater than the bail usually set for such crimes. Without being handcuffed, Murray was then taken into custody for booking. He must surrender his passport, allowing him to travel within the United States but not out of the country. Prosecutors had been seeking bail of $300,000, but Superior Court Judge Keith L. Schwartz rejected that amount. The involuntary-manslaughter charge carries a maximum jail sentence of four years.

The Vienna show would have been "very interesting...had it been properly prepared and organized in an orderly way," Vienna's Mayor Michael Haeupl told the city council assembly. "But it was not," he said in remarks carried by news agency APA.

MJ Tribute Concert Postponed

By Brennan Williams

Due to scheduling conflicts with performers, Michael Jackson's Vienna tribute concert has been postponed until June 2010, which marks the first anniversary of his death. The highly publicized event will now take place at London's Wembley Stadium. Today Jermaine Jackson issued a statement in London stating: "Due to the short time frame it was not possible for many of them to change their schedule so that they could be on stage in Vienna on September 26, therefore we decided, after careful consideration, to change the date of the tribute concert to the summer 2010."

Chris Brown Will NOT be Participating in MJ Tribute

I guess Jermaine didn’t know what the hell he was talking about when he released a statement the other day claiming that Chris Brown would be participating in an upcoming tribute to his late brother Michael Jackson.

The “Forever” singer has put the kibosh on any plans to perform at the M.J. tribute concert in Vienna, hours after Jermaine Jackson announced Brown would be among the headliners at the Sept. 26 show.

“Chris is not confirmed to perform or participate in any capacity for this show,” the publicist for Brown’s label tells E! News.”

I guess I can cut Jermaine some slack since he is getting old, and we all know memory is one of the first things to go.

Mary J. & Chris Brown to Perform at MJ Tribute

Mary J Blige and Chris Brown

Chris Brown, Mary J Blige, Sister Sledge and Natalie Cole will be among the artists performing at the Michael Jackson tribute concert in Vienna.

Speaking at a press conference, Jackson's brother Jermaine told reporters that up to 25 performers had been lined up to sing.

The artists will play some of Jackson's greatest hits at the concert, including Thriller and Billie Jean.

More acts will be revealed later this week, Jackson said.

Akon, Angela Bassett, and the Germany-based boy band US5 will also perform at the gig, which will take place in front of Vienna's former imperial Schoenbrunn Palace.

Jermaine said the venue had been chosen because his brother "loved castles".

He also revealed that he planned to sing a virtual duet with his late brother.

Janet Jackson Ready to Speak on Michael’s Death

By Tiffany Warner

Michael Jackson's younger sister Janet has yet to speak about the King of Pop's death, but she is reportedly breaking her silence with Harper’s Bazaar.

“She is giving them the world exclusive and is going to be on the cover,” said an insider.

Meanwhile, the "Thriller" hit maker will be buried today (September 3).

As previously reported, the small funeral will take place at the Holly Terrace Grand Mausoleum at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in the Hollywood Hills.

Jackson's close friend and mentor Diana Ross will be among attendees, along with former child star McCauley Culkin. Soul legend Aretha Franklin is scheduled to sing as Jackson is lowered into the ground.

The "Billie Jean" hit maker's body will be reportedly encased in thick concrete to protect it from grave robbers.

Autopsy Says Michael Jackson’s Doctor Killed Him

Singer Michael Jackson had lethal levels of the drug propofol in his blood when he died, according to court documents.

A search warrant filed in court showed toxicology reports found propofol in Michael Jackson's body.

A search warrant filed in court showed toxicology reports found propofol in Michael Jackson's body.

Los Angeles' coroner Dr. Lakshmanan Sathyavagiswaran reached that preliminary conclusion after reviewing toxicology results carried out on Jackson's blood, according to an affidavit.

The drug Diprivan, known by its generic name propofol, is administered intravenously in operating rooms as a general anesthetic, the manufacturer AstraZeneca told CNN.

A source close to the investigation told CNN that Dr. Conrad Murray is believed to have administered the drug to Jackson within 24 hours of his death on June 25.

Investigators have searched Murray's home and clinics for evidence related to the anesthetic propofol, according to documents filed in court.

The drug works as a depressant on the central nervous system.

"It works on your brain," said Dr. Zeev Kain, the chair of the anesthesiology department at the University of California --Irvine. "It basically puts the entire brain to sleep."

Kanye West Never Said He Was the King of Pop

Kanye West

Kanye West may have made a lot of boasts in his career, but claiming to be the new King of Pop following the death of Michael Jackson is not one of them.

The superstar rapper hit his official Web site to shoot down rumors that he's taking the title from the late Michael Jackson.

"I was just listening to [radio host] Wendy Williams and heard some quote about me saying I'm the new King of Pop," he wrote. "Not only did I not say that, I haven't said anything."

Kanye also blogged that it upsets him that people would think he would make such a statement following Michael's death.

Michael Jackson’s Autopsy points finger even more at dr. conrad murray

Exclusive: DEA Raids Houston Office Of Michael Jackson?s Doctor

It was reportedly a chaotic scene inside the bedroom of Michael Jackson on June 25 -- clothes strewn around the stifling hot room, handwritten notes papering the walls.

The King of Pop , for all intents and purposes, was dead -- killed, ABC News has learned, by a lethal cocktail of prescription drugs that included Oxycontin and Demerol.

But according to the Associate Press, investigators believe it was Dr. Conrad Murray who injected the pop icon around midnight with propofol, the power anesthetic authorities believe ultimately killed him.

"This doctor is in serious trouble," criminal defense attorney Roy Black told "Good Morning America" today.

Murray, whose Houston office was raided by local and federal authorities last week, has already been named in court papers as the subject of a manslaughter investigation.

Joe Jackson Isn’t that “Mad”

Joe Jackson told CNN's Larry King he suspected foul play was involved in his son's death last month.

LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Michael Jackson's father told CNN's Larry King Monday night that he never beat his son or made any mistakes in raising him. Joe Jackson told CNN's Larry King he suspected foul play was involved in his son's death last month.

Joe Jackson also said the rumor that he wanted to take the singer's children on tour as the Jackson 3 was "a bunch of jive."

Jackson repeated his suspicion that foul play was involved in his son's death last month, but he conceded he did not know what happened. He said he had been blocked from seeing or talking to his son in the days before his death.

There were indications in the interview with Jackson, who was in Las Vegas, that he was not being included in all of the family's activities in recent weeks.

When King asked about the findings of the private autopsy -- which daughter LaToya Jackson last week said she's seen -- Joe Jackson answered "Well, they have not showed it to me, Larry. I'll put it like that."

He also said he did not know where his son's body has been kept since the memorial service.

"You'd have to ask somebody that knows," he said. "I don't know."

Jackson denied that he was legally separated from Katherine Jackson -- his wife of 60 years -- although he did say he spends most of his time in Las Vegas. His wife lives in the family home in Encino, California.

He denied a report that he had agreed to sign a document saying he would not be involved in helping raise Michael Jackson's three children as a way to help his wife retain custody of them.

"I've never said I was going to sign any papers to that effect," he said.
