Greg Halman, an outfielder for the Seattle Mariners, was
allegedly stabbed to death by his brother on Monday. Halman, a 24-year old free agent in 2004,
made his debut to the major leagues in 2010.
Police arrived on the scene after receiving a 911 call
stating that he was bleeding from a stab wound.
They were unable to bring him back, in spite of their efforts.
"A 24-year-old died this morning in a stabbing and we
have arrested the 22-year-old brother of the victim," a Rotterdam police
spokesman told Reuters.
Patricia Wessels, a spokesperson for the police department
said: "He is under arrest and right now he is being questioned. It will
take some time to figure out what exactly happened."
Halman’s 22-year old brother Jason played at the 2004 World
Baseball Championship in Taiwan. Their
father Eddy also played baseball professionally in Holland.
