Diana Ross, Gil Scott Heron To Receive Grammy Lifetime Achievement Awards

Nominated for 12 Grammy awards---and winning none--- Ms. Diana Ross will finally be recognized for her vast contributions to our musical landscape with a Lifetime Achievement award. 

Activist-Poet, Gil Scott-Heron, who died, will be honored posthumously. Best known for “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised” he also provided such classics as “Whitey On The Moon.”

 

The recipients were announced on December 21, 2011, by officials at the Recording Academy, with President Neil Portnow recognizing the honorees for making “lasting impressions on our culture”.

Late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, will receive one the Academy’s Trustees Awards for his non-performance contributions to the world of music.

Honors will be awarded at a ceremony in Los Angeles, CA on February 11, 2012 --- the night before the 54th Annual Grammy Awards.
