Typically known as a classy performer, Patti LaBelle is taking heat for allegedly screaming obscenities at a toddler and throwing a punch at the baby’s mother during an incident in Manhattan. Kevin and Roseanna Monk are telling authorities that LaBelle went ballistic against their daughter Genevieve, and they are filing suit in Manhattan Superior Court.
The family’s attorney is saying that the little girl is only 18 months old, and was running around the lobby of the apartment building when LaBelle allegedly got upset.
"'What are you doing letting your kid run around like that?'" Davis said that LaBelle asked the father.
The family’s attorney says that LaBelle then began "screaming at my client, throwing water from a bottle at the mother's face and the baby's face."
"'Are you happy that this is what you have done to this baby?!'" Davis said Roseanna Monk asked the singer.
That’s when they allege that LaBelle tried to hit the mother. The singer was then pushed into her limo and the mother claims that the baby threw up. Patti’s reps aren’t commenting.
The family says they would have been happy with an apology, but decided to sue when they read about a similar incident in Houston, where Patti’s hairdresser and body guard are accused of attacking a West Point cadet.
“Violence seems to be part of their road show,” Davis said.

I fully understand when people are stressed to the point of abnormal behavior and may act out of character but not towards a baby or young child. I have the greatest admiration for Ms. Pattie LaBelle and have in my over fifty years never heard anything but accolades paid to her. I need to know the full story from both sides. A sad state of affairs if this story is real or if the underlying accusation is about money.
I do not believe this for one minute. This is some greedy Perp or Handler trying to extort money. Sounds like Patti may be a victim of Gangstalking to smear/destroy her character.
Because of who she is and her status, Pattie LaBelle should have reported the incident to the manager and simply walked away to her limo. Situation advoided.
Hope this is not true! Truly have loved Pattie and her music for years. After the West Point cadet incident there could be a pattern. But, after an alleged incident others do come out and try for a payday. Let's not judge, but, wait and see what really happened.
What a bunch of it... I'm not buying this, AT ALL!!!!!
I think she's had one too many facelifts and is too old to be mainstreaming it like she doses. Older folks need to rest more often and take a load off sometimes. She's been around since I was a very young girl and I'm 63. Do the math.
Give it up people... Just trying to get $$$$. .. Discipline your child and get a life!!
Everybody has their off days, but to scream and throw water on a baby for doing what babies do is a bit much, even for Ms. LABelle; if she indeed did do this.
