Heartbreaking: 3 Year Old Survives 2 Days On Her Own After Mom Dies Unexpectedly

"When we lowered the coffin into the grave at the cemetery, though, she pointed at it and said 'Mummy's in there.' It was pretty heartbreaking."

A 3-year-old girl by the name of Shylah Silbery stayed alone in her home with her dead mother for two entire days! Shylah's mother, Lauren Silbery, 28, died unexpectedly and this means that the 3-year-old was left alone in the house since it was just the both of them who used to live at the house. According to Shylah's uncle, Pete Silbery, the toddler managed to open the fridge and fed herself the food that she found there.
According to reports provided, the Silbery family last spoke to Lauren on the 19th of October, and at that time she was perfectly healthy and normal. Pete Silbery said that the death occurred unexpectedly and the cause has still not been established. He further told the press that his family got worried when they did not hear from Lauren for two days. Then they asked one of the neighbors to check up on Lauren and Shylah and when she went to the house, she could only see the toddler, while the mother was nowhere to be found.
The neighbor then prompted the family to call police. When police arrived at the scene, they coaxed Shylah to open the latch of the door by bringing up a stool to the lock. As soon as the toddler was able to unlock the door, she told the officers, "Mummy won't wake up."
"I can only imagine her in there for that long, trying to wake Mum up as well," one of the officers said.
Shylah was then taken to the hospital, where she spent several days, since she was dehydrated and had severe nappy rashes due to wearing the same diaper for two days.
