Couple Decides They Can’t Afford To Feed Newborn – Kills and Buries Baby In Back Garden

A couple in Germany killed their newborn son and buried him in the back garden when he was minutes old because they claimed they couldn't afford to feed him, a court heard.
Prosecutors say Marcel Thomas, 35, and his partner Kirsten Hoffmann, 38, confessed in custody to the murder and said it was because they had three children already.
'That's quite enough,

The pair hid their faces behind files when they appeared at the State Court in Potsdam near Berlin this week for the start of their trial.
Prosecutors say they killed the child two years ago, packed him in a plastic bag and buried him beneath a pathway in the back garden of their home in Jueterbog, also near Berlin.
The court heard how Hoffmann got drunk and blurted out to a friend what had happened earlier this year.

The police found the baby, who was only minutes old, wrapped up in a plastic bag that bore the words, 'Welcome to the family.'
For two years the dead baby's brothers and sister played on his grave without knowing it.
Police said that after he was arrested Thomas said: 'The mother killed him. I only buried him.
But Hoffmann claimed: 'I wanted the child, he didn't. He said we didn't have enough money.'
She had the baby at home in the cellar and claimed her partner took him away after birth and buried him'.
