When hip-hop first burst onto the scene roughly thirty years ago, few music aficionados believed the genre would last this long -- and practically no one thought the artists behind the music would have a very long shelf life. But by constantly evolving and growing in ambition and appeal -- rap music managed to avoid the fate of other modern music trends (disco anyone?).
