Lawrence Wilson of the Carolina Panthers had the opportunity to live out his dream as a player in the NFL. However, he decided to throw that rare chance away by smoking marijuana.
Wilson served as a member of the Panthers practice squad and could have worked his way onto the team’s roster. However, police pulled him over for driving 76 mph in a 65 mph zone and found 11 grams of marijuana in his car. As soon as police placed Wilson in handcuffs, he began crying and speaking about how the incident could damage his career. Days after the arrest, Wilson was cut by the Carolina Panthers.
Wilson understood the consequences of his actions, but he placed his livelihood and freedom in jeopardy anyway.
He squandered a good paycheck and a chance at NFL stardom to get high on marijuana. –a.r.
