Your Black World Reports
Stereotypically, men, particularly athletic men, are supposed to be many things–gay is not one of those things. Will Sheridan, former Villanova University basketball star proved that not only can you be an athlete, black, and gay, you can also be surrounded with teammates and a coaching staff who embrace and accept you as a friend, teammate, player, a man.
Sheridan came out to his roommate and teammate, Mike Nardi, during their freshman year at Villanova. And did so to make himself feel comfortable. “Your personal life is your personal life,” Nardi said. “It didn’t matter to us because it’s family and you don’t go putting your family’s secrets out in the streets. I mean, why would I tell anyone? It’s no one’s business except Will’s.”
