Queen Latifah Searching for a Hot Female Rapper

Queen Latifah Cover Girl

By Madam Toussaint

Queen Latifah wants to see you make your best diva face. The rapper/actress has teamed up with Cover Girl to launch the “Ignite Your Persona Competition.” The winner could get the opportunity  to perform as an opening act during Queen Latifah's tour.

Whether you're a hustler, diva, showstopper, lady or vixen, the Queen wants you to submit a one-minute video performance showcasing one of those personas that fits you best. Along with a video you will need to submit 250-words or less why you deserve to ignite your Persona. Of course you will also need to select the COVERGIRL makeup you use to create your Persona beauty look everyday.

Latifah's website says, "Whether you're a singer, a dancer, a rapper, or anything in between, Queen wants to see what you got," but it seems the Queen is looking to find the next hot female rapper or the next hot female rap group.

The New Jersey rapper feels it's her duty to nurture female rap talent as her way of giving back and showing appreciation to the genre that gave her her start. Does it sound like this contest was made just for you? For more info, log on here.

Hmmm, What Ya’ll Think?

Queen Latifah
"My personal life is personal and its really not for everyone else. With what I do for a living, I have to share a lot of myself with a lot of people, but I'm not going to share everything. They want to make up stories and make me gay all the time and it's like, 'Keep running with it.' I've definitely been annoyed by it, but I learned a long time ago that it was pointless to say anything. Everybody else can do the reading; I'll do the living."

– Grammy winner Queen Latifah spoke to writer Regina Robertson for a recentEssence magazine cover story regarding rumors about her sexuality.

The Queen is Rapping Again

Queen Latifah

The world sees plenty of Queen Latifah (real name Dana Owens) these days -- at movie theaters, on magazine covers, in CoverGirl ads -- but it rarely hears new music from her. Latifah's last two albums consisted entirely of jazz and soul standards.

"Trav'lin Light," released in 2007, sold 263,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan, and "The Dana Owens Album," which came out three years earlier, sold 730,000.

Recently, Latifah went back to rapping (and yes, singing) on everything from a Lady Gaga remix to a Rhymefest mix tape. "Persona," her first album of new material since 1997, is due August 22 on Flavor Unit Entertainment.

The Queen's Got Some Problems...

Seems that Queen Latifah's make-up artist and stylist are not to happy with her right now because they sure are suing her ass. Cosmetologist Roxanna Floyd and stylist Susan Moses are claiming that Latifah owes them $1 million for their work on her CoverGirl ad campaign and her “Curvations” line of intimate apparel. I wonder if she used the money she owed them for her birthday party that she had yesterday???
