The school called police when a female student went to the nurse to get a puncture mark treated. The blowgun shot 3-inch-long needlelike darts with plastic caps, Capt. John Edwards said.
The apparent prank landed Thompson in front of Municipal Court Judge George Neidig who released the student on his own recognizance after he was charged with aggravated assault and weapons offenses.
The judge issued an order preventing Thompson from returning to class.
