Former NBA All-Star Cedric Ceballos is currently being treated at a Phoenix hospital, after suffering "a series of small heart attacks" on Sunday (November 20), said his publicist.
Publicist Crystal Guy tells the Associated Press that Ceballos, 42, was scheduled to undergo surgery in Phoenix.
In a statement, he said he's feeling blessed.
"I feel blessed & very fortunate to be here today & to have made the decision to go to the hospital & get my symptoms checked," Ceballos wrote in a statement that Arizona Republic writer Paul Coro published via Twitter.
Ceballos thanked all who called in support but the family asked for privacy at this time.
Details about his current condition were unknown at press time.
Ceballos averaged 21.7 points per game at the height of his career as a Los Angeles Laker, and went on to play 11 NBA seasons.
