Honesty IS The Best Policy: Man Returns Cash He Stole 60 Years Ago


The elderly man entered the Sears department store at 10am on Monday with an envelope addressed to the "Sears manager", which he handed over the customer service counter before departing.
It contained $100 cash and a handwritten note, which read: "During the late [1940s] I stole some money from the cash register in the amount of $20-$30.
"I want to pay you back this money in the amount of $100 to put in your theft account."
Store staff said the man was captured on surveillance video but they did not know his identity. The store has declined to release the tapes.
"I think his conscience has been bothering him for the past 60 years,"
