A Bronx gangbanger was busted for wildly shooting inside a hospital emergency room and wounding two employees, police sources said.
Michael (Mills) Wayman, 29, a member of Burnside Money Getters, was aiming for a rival gang member when he squeezed off several shots during a brawl in Bronx Lebanon Hospital about 7 p.m. Wednesday, the sources said.
As bullets flew in the packed waiting area, people ducked under chairs and women huddled over children.
One bullet hit a 37-year-old nurse in his shoulder and a 42-year-old security guard was shot in his groin, officials said.
The intended target, a member of the Riverpark Towers Crew who was getting treated for a previous injury to his eye, escaped without getting shot, sources said.
Wayman’s gang had called the man to come to the waiting area just moments before the shots were fired, witnesses said.
“He goes back to the waiting area and all hell breaks loose,” said witness Cecilia Belle-Singleton, 38, at the time of the shooting. “You heard ‘Pop! Pop! Pop! Pop!’
In five minutes, the place was swarming with cops,” she said. Errol Schneer, a hospital spokesman, said the security team helped prevent more people from being shot.
