15 Year Old Boy Poses As Police To Steal Credit Card Info Charges $500 Worth Of Pizza,Tour Bus,And House Party

Also $874 stolen was used to pay a utility bill for a friend's mother,


A 15-year-old boy using smartphone applications has been charged with posing as a captain with the Shelby County Sheriff's Office or a Memphis police officer to steal credit and debit card information, according to the Sheriff's Office.
The ninth-grader was charged with the felonies of theft of services, theft of property and unauthorized use of a credit card, according to a media release issued by sheriff's spokesman Chip Washington. He also was charged with criminal impersonation, a misdemeanor.
Taken to Juvenile Court, the boy's identity was not released.
The boy posed as a fictitious Capt. Tyrone Banks and launched the scam on Sept. 10, according to the Sheriff's Office. He used a smartphone application to look up personal information of potential victims in Shelby County.
He claimed the victims' card number had been stolen and that he needed to verify them. He was able to give the first four digits of one bank's cards and asked the victims to give him the rest.
