The singer Prince was ordered to pay $4 million to a company over a perfume dispute. A New York judge ruled that Prince has to pay the money for stopping the release of one of their fragrances that had the same name as one of his albums.
Revelations Perfume and Cosmetics, Inc. claims that it licensed Prince’s name, likeness and album called “3121” to market its perfume in 2006. They argued that Prince then broke promises to help promote the scent after it was launched.
'Since July 2007, despite repeated attempts by Revelations there have been virtually no communications from anyone who could commit to or coordinate any promotional efforts by Prince,' the suit stated.
This is not the first time Prince has been sued. In March, he was sued by former attorneys who claimed that he owed them $700,000 in fees.
Prince, whose real name is Prince Rogers Nelson, only paid $125,000 of the legal fees during his divorce and three other court cases. He was also sued by NBA player Carlos Boozer in 2006 for adding purple stripes to the outside of a home that he was renting from him.
