R&B star Jill Scott, most recently seen in HBO's "Ladies No. 1 Detective Agency," has been cast as the lead in Lifetime Television's telefilm "Sins of the Mother," reports Variety.
The story follows a grad student who returns home to face her abusive, alcoholic mother – played by Scott – only to discover that her mom is sober and has a 3-year-old daughter and new life.
The story is adapted from author Carleen Brice’s novel "Orange Mint and Honey."
